Geneva’s reputation for being one of the world’s most expensive cities is hard to shake off, yet Geneva offers visitors a wealth of attractions that are absolutely free – from the beautiful lakefront with it’s impressive 140m high Jet d’Eau fountain, to the spectacular surrounding mountain scenery.

Summertime is ideal to make the most of what the city has to offer, including the many seasonal activities and entertainment.

Start your day with a walk or run through one of Geneva’s many leafy park. at nearby Parc des Bastions you can also see the famous Reformation Wall.

In the old town, stop by Maison Tavel, the oldest private residence in Geneva, which opens its doors freely to a permanent exhibition of furniture and objects illustrating daily life between the 16th and 19th century.

Curious to explore beyond the city center? Then borrow a bike from Geneva Roule and escape to the surrounding countryside for a ride through the vineyards and quaint villages.

Use your free public transport card to cruise the lake with the Mouettes Genevoises shuttle boats. If you want to swim or just relax, hop off at Eaux-Vives and head for Baby Plage, a lovely beach of sand, grass and shady trees.

Nearby, the Parc La Grange hosts free Musiques en Ete concerts in the evenings. Join the locals and bring along blanket, wine and picninc.

For more party atmosphere, Geneva’s big summer festival, les Fêtes de Genève, features lots of entertainment including funfair rides, fireworks and free live music performances that take place all around the lakefront.
